Is the "Highlights' Tour, Handicap Accessible? I know about the elevator to the tower, but what about the rest of the tour?

In my opinion, an individual in a wheelchair may find touring here rather difficult. Even the ground floor, which is spacious and worth seeing (at no charge), has a few steps to access the main hall. I think the small elevator stops at the other levels (it is operated by the guide), and the halls are spacious enough to be navigated. But some of the rooms, as well as the tower, will be difficult. The staff is wonderful and may even have suggestions, so I would advise calling before making plans.

Thanks for the question, MrSaturn64, and for the answer, Bill R. To elaborate a bit: the first floor is open by donation on most weekends from 1:00 to 4:30 pm (sometimes public and private events preclude the regular hours; call or check our website for those dates). The main collection is accessible via guided tour, or during one of our Festivals. Our next Festival is Sunday, October 29 and is our annual Medieval Festival. All the galleries will be open for self-guided viewing, and there will be demonstrations and activities relating to medieval life and art. Hope that helps!
