Nice drive only 1 hour from Dublin, just off the main Dublin to Cork motorway in Portlaoise. Would highly recommend a visit here. It’s free! And with lovely views out over the countryside. Full review by Jason M

No fee on visiting the Rock of Dunamase. Well worth visiting as it is only 4 - 5 minutes from the motorway. If you have additional time on your visit there is a beautiful monastic site and heritage centre at Timahoe 10Km south of the Rock of Dunamase. A facebook page dedicated to the Rock of Dunamase and county laois history and heritage is up and running.
