4.8 magnitude earthquake hits West Texas
ACKERLY, Texas - A 4.8 magnitude earthquake hit West Texas Friday afternoon, the United States Geological Survey said. The earthquake hit approximately 16 miles southwest of Ackerly, Texas in Martin County. The agency reported the quake happened just after 1:30 p.m. central Friday at a depth of around 4 miles.

At 1:33 p.m., a 4.8 magnitude earthquake hit southwest of Ackerly. USGS said it was 4.2 miles in depth. A second earthquake with a magnitude of 2.6 was located south, southeast of Ackerly. This occurred at 3:47 p.m. and was 2.6 miles in depth, USGS reports.
