Dhaka: Bangladesh on Sunday omitted former skipper Shakib Al Hasan, who has been suspended from bowling in international and domestic cricket because of an illegal action, from their Champions Trophy squad.

Star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan had earlier indicated his desire to retire after the Champions Trophy, and his exclusion from Bangladesh’s 15-man squad for the upcoming tournament likely marks the end of his stellar 18-year international career.

Shakib took part in one County Championship match for Surrey against Somerset in September. While bowling, umpires reported his action and as a result, he was banned from bowling by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
