The texts being reported in multiple states, including South Carolina, refer to students as 'selected to pick cotton at the nearest plantation'

Widespread reports of racist text messages sent to Black Americans are spreading across social media. The texts, some of which were labeled as coming from "A TRUMP SUPPORTER," tell the recipients that they've been selected to be enslaved and assigned to pick cotton on a plantation.

The FBI and attorneys general in Ohio, Virginia and Washington, D.C. confirmed that they are aware of the offensive text messages circulating across the country.
