The CBS News Texas Weather Team has issued a First Alert Weather Day for Friday due to the increasing chance of rain. It was an absolutely beautiful fall day across the area with sunny skies and highs in the lower 70s.

Through this evening, some of the heavier showers and thunderstorms could bring some of us up to an additional inch of rainfall. While this moisture is helpful to break our drought, it could also cause some standing water around storm drains that are clogged with new fallen leaves.

It is expected to be a rainy Election Day throughout most of the day, but most of the severe weather risk especially the tornado risk should drop off a lot by the time we get into Tuesday morning. Scattered storms are expected throughout the morning hours with isolated storms lingering across NW LA for the afternoon.

Monday is a First Alert Weather Day for North Texas due to the threat of strong and severe storms. Be prepared for an active day and have multiple ways to receive warnings. Most of North Texas is under a slight threat of severe weather with the potential of quarter-size hail,

For cities and towns east of I-35, your severe weather chances won’t arrive until after sunset. From roughly 6 PM to midnight is when today’s front will move through your neighborhood. Despite the sun being down, those storms could still be strong-to-severe bringing straight-line wind gusts and heavy rain.

When the polls open this morning, temperatures will be in the mid to upper 60s with sunny skies with temperatures increasing throughout the day.
