( MENAFN - Live Mint) Saudi Arabia has asked Oscar-winning composer hans zimmer to work on a new version of its national anthem, a senior official said as reported by AFP. This move comes as the conservative kingdom steps up an image makeover.

Alalshikh met with Zimmer to discuss “various projects” the famed film composer could work on, including re-creating the anthem—currently “The Chant of the Saudi Nation,” written by Egyptian composer Abd al-Rahman al-Khatib in 1947—with “different instruments.

The Oscar-winning composer met with the country's chairman of the General Entertainment Authority to discuss various collaborations.

Germany's Zimmer also mentioned 'Arabia', a Saudi-inspired musical, and the soundtrack for the upcoming Saudi film 'The Battle Of Yarmuk'

The musician, who has worked on hit films including The Lion King and Gladiator, is said to have agreed on the "broad outlines" of a number of projects with officials in the country.
