On February 27, 2025, Andrew Gomez Cardona, aged 26, was apprehended at a residence in the 900 block of S. Magnolia Ave., in El Cajon. Cardona has been booked on charges related to the murder of Anthony Trujillo. Gomez informed detectives he was living in Lemon Grove at the time of his arrest.

A man was found fatally wounded Sunday afternoon after sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported shooting in a Lemon Grove park.

LEMON GROVE, Calif. (KGTV) — The San Diego County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident at a Lemon Grove park that left one person dead Sunday afternoon. Deputies responded to reports of a possible shooting at Kunkel Park, in the 8100 block of Lemon Grove Way, at around 12:40 p.m., sheriff's officials said.

Anthony Trujillo, a Lemon Grove resident, was found lying in Kunkel Park shortly after 12:40 p.m. suffering from a gunshot wound. The Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and determined he had been shot in the neck, homicide Lt. Michael Krugh said in a statement.
