Letter carriers across the nation are taking a stand against what they say are efforts to dismantle and privatize the U.S. Postal Service. In Baton Rouge, local mail carriers gathered Sunday at the corner of Bluebonnet Boulevard and Perkins Road for what they called an “emergency rally” to defend what they consider an essential public institution.

Demonstrators rallied in St. Paul and Duluth on Sunday against calls to privatize the U.S. Postal Service. U.S. Sen. Tina Smith called the move a “hostile takeover” by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency.
