Texas has surpassed 600 cases in total since the disease was first reported in West Texas in late January, having reached 624 cases this week.

Texas health officials reported Tuesday there have been 624 confirmed cases of measles in the state this year, providing the update a few days after the the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 800 confirmed cases of the illness in the U.

Texas is experiencing its largest measles outbreak in 30 years. The virus has infected more than 600 people and killed two school-aged children.
