State Senator John Damoose, R-Harbor Springs, provided a lengthy update on the progress being made in several northern Michigan counties on social media. If Upper Peninsula residents are in critical need of resources, residents should contact their county’s sheriff’s office, Damoose said.

The National Weather Service has confirmed nine tornadoes, mostly in mid-Michigan, amid Sunday's weather. One more report in Branch County is still under investigation. All of them were rated EF-1 or EF-0. The confirmed list includes a small tornado, rated EF-O, that hit along Wabash Road near Milan in Monroe County

"I stick to predicting the weather," National Weather Service meteorologist Andrew Arnold in White Lake Township joked early Wednesday, adding that the state has seen its share of calamitous storms, with more on the way.
