Tube drivers have been offered a four-day week by Sadiq Khan’s Transport for London in return for calling off strikes.A letter from Nick Dent, the TfL director, to the Aslef trade union on Tuesday pledged to “set out a proposal for delivering an average four-day working week”.

Aslef, which represents around 2,000 Tube drivers, has now called off the strikes following an “improved offer” from TfL. It comes just days after the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) also called off strikes planned for November.

Planned strikes by London Underground drivers over pay have been suspended. Members of Aslef were due to walk out on Thursday and again next Tuesday - which would have crippled Tube services. The Rail, Maritime and Transport union had already called off strikes by its members after resolving a dispute over pay.

Londoners can let out a sigh of relief after all the upcoming Tube strikes have been called off by Aslef. It comes after the RMT union had already called off its walk-out which would have impacted Tube travel this week after reaching an agreement over pay.
