Tuesday, Nov. 5 was Election Day, and voters across the nation, including in California, had several races and measures to vote on. Outside of the race to decide the country's next president, Californians voted in the U.

In the November 2024 California state legislative races, voters in Los Angeles County went to the polls to elect candidates to two dozen Assembly seats. The results are still unofficial but we know that at least eight — one-third — of those seats will be won by non-incumbents because the current officeholders in Sacramento aren’t seeking reelection.

Against a national red wave, Californians sent a top Trump nemesis to the US Senate, and favored Democrats in House and state races. But they also toughened criminal sentences and rejected more rent control.
