Vice President JD Vance's "Hillbilly Elegy" was one of the books involved in an alleged scheme to smuggle drugs into Ohio prisons, court records say.

A man accused of using books to bring drugs into an Ohio prison is facing charges, according to our CBS affiliate WOIO-19. One of the books used was “Hillbilly Elegy,” which was written by United States Vice President JD Vance.

A Maumee man is accused of smuggling drugs into an Ohio prison by spraying Vice President JD Vance’s book, “Hillbilly Elegy,” with a synthetic marijuana compound, according to an Ohio State trooper working with a federal drug task force.
