Edmonton Oilers superstar captain Connor McDavid sustained a lower-body injury in the second period of a 4-3 overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday. McDavid appeared to get hurt after being bumped by Winnipeg defenseman Josh Morrissey in his pursuit of the puck in the Jets' zone.

He didn't need McDavid on Thursday, earning the Oilers a point with a classic Hyman net-front goal to tie the game late in the third period. He was one of Edmonton's best players all night, earning an expected goals share of 75.65% in addition to his 25th goal of the year.

Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch did not have an update on McDavid, who sustained a lower-body injury during the second period, or goalie Stuart Skinner, who went into concussion protocol following a collision in the crease with Jets forward Gabriel Vilardi at 15:03 of the third.
