James Cameron has teased more information on the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third film in the $5 billion-plus big-screen spectacular series. It sounds like we’re mixing up the elements this time around, with — as the same suggests — more of fire and air, rather than the water and lush greenery that has typified the look of Avatar’s world.

James Cameron recently sat down with Empire Magazine to give fans an look inside what they can expect for Avatar 3. Titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, the film is the follow-up to the 2022 film Avatar: The Way of Water.

Cameron makes particular reference to the new character Varang, who will be played by Oona Chaplin in Avatar: Fire and Ash. She's the leader of a clan of Na'vi who are volcano-dwelling, rather than being in the air or sea. He spoke more to Empire about that newcomer, offering:
