The University of California system has seen about 50 students have their visa revoked by the federal government, UC President Michael Drake said Tuesday, as the Trump administration recently

Amid a national sweep over student visas that has hit colleges across the U.S., the Trump administration on Friday canceled more than a dozen international student visas at the University of California — including UCLA and UC San Diego — and Stanford University.

After a student at San Diego State University was stripped of their F-1 visa earlier this week, the institution confirmed others experienced a similar fate. On Thursday, the university confirmed a total of four SDSU students have had their visas revoked.

"We are deeply troubled by the escalation of immigration enforcement activity toward our international students."

We are not aware of the details of the revocations or the reasons for them, but we understand these actions continue to take place at other institutions across the country," Harvard said in a post Thursday.

The visa terminations mean the students must immediately leave the U.S., scrambling their plans to earn college degrese.

Seven Harvard University students and five recent graduates have had their visas revoked, the school confirmed Thursday.

An international student at the University of Iowa has had their visa revoked, according to an email sent to members of the campus community. The notification comes amid a national trend of university students facing abrupt changes to their citizenship status.
