The Padres had just enough on an afternoon in which they played without so much. With half of their six core players on offense watching, the Padres got at least one runner into scoring position in seven of nine innings and scored in two of them and then let Randy Vásquez and the back end of their bullpen close out 2-1 victory over the Athletics on Wednesday.
