Major League Soccer (MLS) apologised on Thursday after saying Celtic's Japanese forward Kyogo Furuhashi had signed for Atlanta United when in fact it was his compatriot Cayman Togashi who had joined the U.

On Wednesday, fans of the Atlanta United FC were given some exciting news via an announcement from the MLS that they would be bringing in Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi. But shortly after, the announcement was deleted and the news was debunked,

Major League Soccer apologized on Thursday for posting an erroneous story on its website with the wrong name of a player that was purportedly being transferred to one of its clubs.

Celtic and Kyogo Furuhashi receive an apology from Major League Soccer after they wrongly claim that the Japanese striker had joined Atlanta United.

A news released published on the MLS website claimed that Atlanta had “acquired” Kyogo before it was deleted. The US club, who are managed by former Celtic boss Ronny Delia, had previously been linked with the 29-year-old Japan international Kyogo.
