The latest bird flu detections come as the U.S. Department of Agriculture is trying to rehire bird flu experts​ that were fired as part of DOGE cost-cutting efforts.

The company, Zoetis, said this license was granted on the “demonstration of safety, purity, and reasonable expectation of efficacy.”

The bird flu is making poultry and eggs far pricier for people here in the United States. The outbreak has wiped out millions of birds across the country, causing egg prices to soar and supermarkets to limit purchases.

Two indoor cats in Oregon were euthanized after contracting bird flu, leading to a recall of raw pet food sold in both Oregon and Washington, health officials have announced. The cats were from separate households and had consumed the same Wild Coast Raw Boneless Free Range Chicken Formula before falling ill.
