The New York Mets are returning to Queens Friday for their home opener weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays following away games against the Houston Astros and the Miami Marlins that left the team with a 3-3 record.

The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins in extra innings on Wednesday, taking down the home side 6-5. Mets announcer Keith Hernandez was not particularly impressed with how things went in the 10th inning, however.

Pete Alonso hit a grand slam and the New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 10-4. Starling Marte, Luis Torrens and Brandon Nimmo also went deep for the Mets, who finished with 11 hits in the opener of a three-game series.

Pete Alonso’s game-tying three-run home run in the eighth inning was the signature moment — a blast over the center field wall that sent the Mets’ dugout into a frenzy and temporarily turned loanDepot park into Citi Field South.
