Osman Bukari scored late in the second half and Brad Stuver made it stand up in his 81st consecutive start in goal to lead Austin FC to a 1-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City in a season opener.

Set to visit Austin FC at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sporting KC on Thursday announced the acquisition of defender Andrew Brody via a waiver claim. Brody, 29, was waived by Real Salt Lake earlier this week. He spent the last four years with RSL after signing a homegrown player contract with the Utah organization in 2020.

Austin FC opens the 2025 Major League Soccer season Saturday night hosting Sporting Kansas City in what will be cold and possibly rainy conditions at Q2 Stadium. Both teams missed the Western Conference playoffs last year but made substantial moves in the offseason to bolster their rosters.
