Coaching changes have been rampant as defensive coordinator Steve Bellichick followed his dad, Bill, to the North Carolina Tar Heels, and one of the top transfer portal additions, WR Johntay Cook, was dismissed from the team earlier this week. After a tough season that finished with a 6-7 record, the offseason has been up and down so far.
Safety Peyton Waters, UW’s most recent portal entrant, burned his redshirt in 2024 after playing in all 13 games, primarily on special teams. UW added two players at his position from the portal – FIU transfer CJ Christian and Northern Arizona transfer Alex McLaughlin – making it unlikely Waters was going to see the field much next season.
Cook, who entered the transfer portal in November after parting ways with Texas, has now reportedly left Washington just weeks after transferring.
