The falling snow is causing a mess across metro Atlanta. Roads are becoming impassable in spots across the southern part of the metro. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for most of the metro, which is set to expire at 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Parts of Georgia and Carolinas are digging out from a winter storm on Saturday after it produced heavy snow, freezing rain and ice across the region, knocking out power to hundreds of thousands of customers.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan says the winter storm will be historic across the Gulf Coast for several cities that usually don’t see accumulating snow. For us in north Georgia, we’ll be on the northern edge of the system and up to a couple of inches of snow will be possible.
