LANSING — Virtually all of lower Michigan is expected to get significant snowfall starting Wednesday afternoon and continuing into Thursday morning. The Lansing region is under a winter weather advisory, with 4 to 6 inches of snow expected by early Thursday. Some area school districts canceled afternoon activities on Wednesday.

Most of Michigan's Lower Peninsula could see significant snow accumulation Wednesday into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The far southeast corner of Michigan will be the only spot with a mixture of various winter weather types. This means we have to look at snow totals and some freezing rain accumulation.
