Songs by James Taylor will serve as the backbone for a new musical, which is in the early development stages. On Monday, it was announced that Fire and Rain - featuring Taylor's music - will feature an original story written by Tracy Letts and a play directed by David Cromer.

“Fire and Rain” is one of Taylor’s most iconic songs, released in 1970 on his second album, “Sweet Baby James.” It reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Other hits include “You've Got a Friend” and “How Sweet It Is.”

Taylor's songs will be featured in “Fire & Rain,” a new musical in development with a story by playwright and actor Tracy Letts and direction by Tony Award winner David Cromer.
