The University of Pennsylvania is making a bold move by appointing Fran McCaffery as its next men’s basketball head coach, according to Sam Federman. McCaffery, a 1982 Wharton graduate, replaces Steve Donahue after Penn’s disappointing 8-19 season.

Less than two weeks after his dismissal at Iowa following 15 years there, it looks like McCaffery will become the head coach at his Penn alma mater

McCaffery replaces Delaware County native Steve Donahue, who was fired March 10 after nine seasons in charge of the Quakers. McCaffery returns to his alma mater from Iowa, where he was let go on March 14 after 15 years as the head coach of the Hawkeyes.
