Neil Young joins the growing number of artists trying to improve upon what he calls “the bad thing that has happened to concerts world-wide”—that is, inflated ticket prices, particularly under Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing system.

Young said he was inspired by The Cure’s Robert Smith, who took a similar stance for the band’s North America tour back in 2023, calling platinum and dynamic tickets “a greedy scam” that artists can choose to opt out of (at the expense of some of their ticketing revenue).

Young's decision comes following Smith's 2024 comments calling high ticket prices a "scam" which is "driven by greed."
