The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired outfielder Alexander Canario from the New York Mets on Monday for cash considerations, the club announced. In a corresponding move, the Pirates transferred injured righty Jared Jones from the 15-day to 60-day injured list,
6:37pm: Pittsburgh announced the trade and transferred Jones to the 60-day IL. He’s early into a six-week shutdown after experiencing elbow soreness in Spring Training, so he won’t be ready for MLB game action until the latter half of June at the earliest.
Neither Alexander Canario nor Jose Azocar could be optioned to the minor leagues so now the Mets can try to find a trade partner or expose them to waivers.
