Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency has been Donald Trump’s battering ram during the president’s first 100 days, slashing the federal government and trying to bend its remnants to Trump’s will.

With the savings from the cuts DOGE has suggested to USAID, Sens. Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., have proposed that $2 billion get reallocated to pay for outstanding repairs in state veterans’ homes.

AmeriCorps has become the latest target of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, with $400 million in grants on the chopping block. According to The Washington Post, DOGE has ordered the national service program deploying thousands of volunteers across America to terminate nearly 41 percent of its total 2025 funding.
