MSNBC welcomed Politico's Eugene Daniels as the network's new Senior Washington Correspondent, Morning Joe announced on Monday.

The Comcast Corp.-owned news channel announced Monday that Daniels, 36, will join the morning edition of “The Weekend,” a three-hour program airing Saturdays and Sundays. He will be joined by Washington Post journalist Jonathan Capehart and another co-host to be named soon.

Eugene Daniels, Politico’s White House correspondent and Playbook author, is making his next big move — joining MSNBC to co-host a weekend roundtable. The move comes amid a wider shake-up at the network this week that saw host Joy Reid’s show axed and her departure from the network.

Eugene Daniels confirmed this morning that he will be departing Politico to take a full-time role as MSNBC’s senior Washington correspondent. The announcement was made on Morning Joe this morning. Daniels also will be a co-host of The Weekend along with Jonathan Capehart,
