Falmouth police picked up nearly 500 nails on local streets overnight and are now trying to track down who is responsible for possibly positioning them on the streets and in residents' driveways.

Hundreds of nails were discovered on several streets and driveways in Falmouth early Friday morning, police said.

Police on Cape Cod are urging motorists to check their tires after nearly 500 nails were found placed point up on several roads early Friday morning. An officer patrolling John Parker Road in Falmouth spotted nails lining the roadway around 2 a.m., prompting a search of the neighborhood, according to the Falmouth Police Department.
