Snow is on the way for Houston, and maybe a lot of it. Significant snow is a rare event here, so Chief Meteorologist Mike Iscovitz has a look back at some of the most memorable snow events in Houston history.
Here are the top ten snowfall totals recorded in Houston
The second highest was on Valentine’s Day February 14, 1960 where 4.4” of snowfall was recorded. Taking the third top snowfall event in Houston occurred on January 31, 1949 where 3.1” of snow fell in Houston. Here are the rest of the ones on the list.

Here's how much snow we're expecting in the Houston area and when
Areas that will likely see the least amount of snow will be located along the immediate coastline. Snow totals here may get cut down due to mixing issues with sleet and rain. Additionally, temperatures near or just above freezing will compress any snow that does fall, leading to smaller totals.
