The Irish High Court stayed the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) capping capacity at Dublin Airport (DUB) to 25.2 million seats for the 2025 summer schedule.

The stay order will grant airlines, including Aer Lingus and Ryanair, more time to possibly remove the passenger cap at Dublin Airport.

The High Court has paused a decision that would affect the number of passenger seats available on aircraft at Dublin Airport during next year’s summer season. The decision by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) to implement the passenger cap would affect airlines’ access to take-off and landing slots over the summer period.

Dublin Airport could see its passenger numbers grow to as many as 34 million next year – higher than the 32 million cap in force at the gateway - according to DAA chief executive Kenny Jacobs. It’s already set to handle close to 33 million this year.

Ireland’s High Court has agreed to pause the implementation of Dublin Airport’s passenger cap for summer 2025, after airlines Ryanair Holdings Plc and Aer Lingus made an urgent application to the court saying it would negatively impact their access to slots.
