The latest episode of Kilauea’s ongoing eruption began at 8:22 p.m. Wednesday in Halemaumau crater within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, according to the U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.

Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupted for the 10th time Wednesday evening with spectacular lava fountains, about a week after the ninth episode ended, scientists said.

Kilauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, has been erupting on and off for nearly two months since it burst to life on Dec. 23.
