Lionel Messi and a heavy security presence were on show as the revamped Club World Cup got under way in the United States on Saturday. Host city side Inter Miami, led by Argentine legend Messi, played out an entertaining goalless again Egyptian giants Al Ahly to kick off the tournament.
Lionel Messi drew vast crowds and showed flashes of his brilliance when his Inter Miami side were held to a goalless draw by African giants Al-Ahly as the revamped Club World Cup got off to a festive start on Saturday.
Many of the participating clubs have made big signings ahead of the tournament start as they battle for the trophy and remarkable prize money on offer, which could reach £100milion for the winner. The final takes place in Jersey on July 13.
