Sunday is shaping up to be a dangerous weather day across parts of the Southern Plains and the Mississippi Valley, with the potential for both severe storms and flash flooding.

Severe weather predicted to hit MS on Easter is now expected to stay mostly west of the state, but waves of storms are in the forecast for next week.

On April 19, forecasters said severe thunderstorms were a threat to parts of the middle and lower Mississippi Valley and the Southern Plains, and the risk could grow into Easter Sunday on April 20. The thunderstorms there could produce severe wind, hail and a few tornadoes, the weather service said.
