The Mets added three runs in the eighth via a rally that began with a pair of nontraditional doubles. After Luisangel Acuna’s bouncer toward third base went under the bare hand of Nolan Gorman, it trickled into leftfield, so he ran to second. Two batters later, Tyrone Taylor’s looping hit landed behind first base for another two bases.

Francisco Lindor had three hits, including a leadoff homer, and the Mets completed a four-game sweep of St. Louis at home for the first time in franchise history. The club’s previous three four-game sweeps against the Cardinals came in St. Louis, the most recent in April 1986.
