Some striking Providence nurses appeared unwilling to accept the tentative labor agreement reached with the health system this week, raising the possibility that the largest health care strike in Oregon history could continue into a fifth week.

Providence hospitals reached a tentative contract agreement with the health system’s leaders late Tuesday, nearing a possible end to a strike that was in its 26th day.

Thousands of workers walked off the job on Friday at all eight Providence hospitals in the state as well as six women’s clinics, including nurses, physicians and advanced practitioners.

Nurses at Providence Oregon hospitals reached a tentative deal after a 26-day strike, improving working conditions and pay.

Union members still need to ratify the contract. Voting is set to start Thursday morning and end Friday afternoon.
