The news was somewhat surprising — if that’s still possible in this era of college sports — because Donaldson started all 37 games for a team that won the Big Ten Tournament an went to the Sweet 16.

Michigan basketball guard Tre Donaldson has decided to put his name in the transfer portal after one successful year in Ann Arbor with Dusty May.

Donaldson, who’s from Tallahassee, is joining a Miami program that’s coming off its worst season ever and is in a transition period. The Hurricanes finished 7-24 overall and placed dead last in the 18-team ACC with a 3-17 mark during a forgettable campaign in which longtime coach Jim Larrañaga stepped down in late December.
