Jimmy Carter laid to rest in Plains, Georgia, after funeral service in Washington
Jimmy Carter's state funeral was held at the National Cathedral on Thursday and the 39th president's final journey to Georgia has begun. President Biden gave a eulogy at the service, highlighting Carter's character and faith.
Former president Carter, the Georgia Democrat and 39th president, died Dec. 29 at the age of 100.
The official state funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9 at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. All five living U.S. presidents are expected to attend.
