Sometimes they result in games that garner critical acclaim, but I'd say that most remakes we've seen so far simply end up showing us how good the original was, and that we'd rather be playing that.

Nostalgia keeps us tied to games of the past, but not as much as some of these new games with just the right amount of retro mixed in.
