COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - On Friday, the South Carolina Department of Corrections executed its second death row inmate by firing squad since the state reinstated the death penalty in 1976. His attorney argued that Mahdi chose that method of execution because it was the lesser of the three evils.
