This weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Bell is in position to win fourth straight Cup Series race, a modern record for the sport. Since 1972, NASCAR has only seen that feat accomplished eight times, with five of those instances resulting in that driver becoming Cup champion that year.

Bell has the chance Sunday to become the first driver since Jimmie Johnson in 2007 to win four consecutive Cup Series races — an accomplishment that only eight drivers have achieved in the modern era of NASCAR that began in 1972.

As Bell worked to build results, Kyle Larson, who also had come from the dirt ranks and been a rival to Bell, was dominating in Cup. On the way to a 10-win season and the championship, Larson won three races in a row. He was the last Cup driver to do that before Bell’s feat.
