Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Prayagraj on Monday to participate in the Maha Kumbh celebrations. He took the holy dip at Triveni Sangam, flanked by several Hindu saints and seers, and offered prayers to God.

Shah was guarded by a heavy security cover in the Mela area and in Prayagraj. While the Mela area was made strictly a no-vehicle zone, Prayagraj city had several route diversions in place.

Amit Shah arrived in Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh Mela, and took a dip at Sangam Ghat and receive blessings from the saints. He called the Kumbh a symbol of Sanatan culture and unity.

He is then scheduled to go to the Bade Hanuman Ji Temple and Abhayvat as part of his day-long visit.

Ahead of his visit, Shah posted on X, “Mahakumbh is a unique symbol of the timeless essence of Sanatan culture. The Kumbh showcases the life philosophy of Sanatan Dharma, which is rooted in harmony.”

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took holy dips in sacred river waters in the northern city of Prayagraj on Wednesday as he joined millions of people at the Maha Kumbh Mela, a week after dozens died in a stampede at the event.
