Microsoft has announced that the final day it will offer security support for Word, Excel, and Powerpoint on Windows 10 will be Oct. 14.

Microsoft has now made it clear that support for Microsoft 365 on Windows 10 will cease at the same time as support for the older operating system.

Windows 10 isn't the only Microsoft product that is due to lose support this coming October. In a blog post published Wednesday, the software giant said Microsoft 365 apps (aka Office) will no longer be supported in Windows 10 after Oct. 14, 2025. To continue using Microsoft 365 or Office, the company urges users to upgrade to Windows 11.

“Microsoft 365 Apps will no longer be supported after October 14, 2025, on Windows 10 devices,” the company confirmed. “To use Microsoft 365 Applications on your device, you will need to upgrade to Windows 11.”

Microsoft will end support for Microsoft 365 for Windows 10 this October, so you'll need to buy a new Windows 11 PC.

As the push toward Windows 11 continues, Microsoft confirms that Windows 10 users will lose support for apps including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

The apps will still work after Oct. 14, but users should be prepared for 'performance and reliability issues over time,' Microsoft says.
