Less than 48 hours after a triple shooting in Oakland, a double shooting was reported early Sunday, police said.

A celebratory birthday party turned tragic Friday night in North Oakland when gunfire erupted outside an event rental space, killing two people and injuring a third.

Two victims were hospitalized after a shooting in Oakland’s Eastmont neighborhood, according to the Oakland Police Department. Around 5 a.m. on Sunday, Oakland police officers responded to the 7600 block of Garfield Avenue due to multiple ShotSpotter notifications.

Two victims, an 18-year-old woman and 19-year-old man, were transported to a local hospital by someone else in the car, authorities said.

The Sheriff’s Office was on the scene until late Christmas Eve processing what they described as a “major incident.”
