Generally, video game graphics have reached the coveted point of “good enough.” When Horizon Zero Dawn came out in 2017—years before the PS5 would come out—no one thought its visuals were lacking. Far from it. Yet, when Sony released a remaster of this less-than-a-decade-old game that, arguably, no one asked for, it was … actually pretty good.

Sony’s new PS5 Pro, which has been described as  the most powerful PlayStation ever made has been panned with the Verge claiming it’s not worth it’s purchase price. The reviewer offered readers a simple test urging them to go get a measuring tape.

In my week of testing, the PS5 Pro delivered better visuals than the standard PS5, but it doesn't come cheap. The PlayStation 5 Pro delivered better graphics and smoother frame rates than the standard PS5 in my testing.

Early impressions from The Verge, IGN, Tom’s Hardware, and others suggest the PS5 Pro has leveled up and is now the ultimate way to experience gaming on the console. All that said, the biggest standout so far has been PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) — Sony’s new AI-powered upscaling tool.
