A pair of former Gamecocks headline the 2025 South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame Class, announced Wednesday. Former South Carolina baseball and women’s basketball greats Landon Powell and Shannon Johnson are joined the likes of former NFL star Richard Seymour and international soccer star Clint Dempsey.

Harold Olson, a key player in Clemson’s back-to-back ACC championships in 1958 and 1959, was a standout offensive tackle under coach Frank Howard. A three-time letterman, Olson earned first-team All-ACC honors in 1959 and was named to the Clemson Centennial team in 1996.

When adding in his four years in Chicago and his one in Seattle, Olsen finished with 8,683 receiving yards—the seventh-most all-time by a tight end. The two-time second-team All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler was also the first tight end in league history to record three straight seasons of 1,000 receiving yards.

Sharpe has always been honored at South Carolina. One of the greatest wide receivers in Gamecock history, he finished his USC career in 1987 as the school’s all-time leading receiver after catching 169 balls for nearly 2,500 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Sterling and Shannon Sharpe will become the first brothers to be enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The backlog at wide receiver appeared to start breaking last year. Texans star Andre Johnson was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2024, a move that seemed to open doors for Wayne and Rams legend Torry Holt, who has been on the ballot since 2014 and a finalist since 2020.
