Deluged with criticism over social media posts that spread misinformation in the aftermath of the shootings of two Democratic Minnesota state lawmakers and their spouses, Utah Sen. Mike Lee deleted a handful of his online comments — but not all.
Utah Sen. Mike Lee appeared to take down a series of social media posts about a double homicide in Minnesota over the weekend, that were condemned by two of his Senate colleagues who confronted him over what they said were “cruel” and insensitive posts.
The Utah Republican tried to link the Minnesota shooter to liberals despite evidence showing the suspect’s conservative views.
Politicians in both parties had criticized remarks by the Utah senator, saying that his political rhetoric made light of tragedy.
